The appropriate golf attire is about more than just looking the part. Your golf attire becomes an integral component of your game. The appropriate fit can help you stay protected from the elements while also providing a high level of comfort without limiting your movement.

Groundwork Is Key
It’s a good idea to phone beforehand or check the club’s website for the dress code before going to the course. The dress code for each course may differ. Some people are more laid-back than others.

Tops

- You should not wear denim jackets, sweatshirts, and hoodies as layers.
- Don’t go too big. You should keep outerwear and rainwear should to a minimum so as not to obstruct your swing.
Bottoms
- Golf pants, shorts, and skirts should be composed of a fabric that breathes well, wicks sweat away, and does not impede movement.
- You can’t go wrong with khaki, black, or white, but you can also use color to your advantage. If you’re wearing a bold bottom, you should wear a neutral shirt (and vice versa if wearing a bold shirt).
- The bottoms of your legs should kiss the tops of your shoes if you’re wearing pants.
- Shorts should fall slightly over your kneecaps if you’re wearing them.
- Skirts, skorts, and dresses provide more options for women. These should be worn between the middle of the thigh and the knee, no more than two inches above the knee. It’s even better if the skirt has shorts built-in.
- Denim, cargo shorts, jeans, sweatpants, yoga trousers, and other sports pants are not permitted.
- It’s sloppy to wear pants or shorts that are excessively long.
- Wearing cuffed or pleated pants is a fashion faux pas (we’re here to help you look beautiful)!
- If you’re wearing shorts, make sure they’re not too tight or too short. (Ick).
- Please, no booty shorts or little skirts for the ladies. (Another significant fashion faux pas, as well as Icky.)
Shoes
- Wear golf shoes with non-metal (soft) spikes, such as hard rubber, plastic, or other non-metal (soft) spikes. (If you don’t have golf shoes, you can wear running shoes or sneakers with good traction.)
- Wearing metal spikes will rip up the track.
- Boots, street shoes, and sandals are not permitted.
Accessories
- Choose golf socks that will wick moisture away from your feet and complement your pants/shorts (darker socks are more appropriate if you’re wearing black shoes). Socks should come to a point just above your ankles, not above them.
- On particularly hot days, wear a cool cap, visor, or straw hat.
- Wear polarized sunglasses to protect your eyes from harmful UVA/UVB rays while minimizing glare.
- To avoid blisters and callouses, wear plain Jewellery and a golf glove.
- Put on a belt (you have belt loops for a reason). Match the color of your belt to the color of your shirt or jeans.
- Wear a good, sweat- and water-resistant watch.
- Cowboy hats, sophisticated fedoras, and beanies are not appropriate.
- Wearing long necklaces or dangly earrings that could get tangled is not a good idea.
Think About Your Pockets
Keep in mind how deep your pockets are. Many golf-specific bottoms have deep pockets, and some pants and shorts have five pockets. This allows you to easily store goods like your ball marker or divot repair equipment.
Consider The Forecast
Being at ease throughout a round of golf can help you earn better scores. The weather, like any other event, can influence what you wear. In hot weather, you’ll want to wear clothing that allows you to breathe to keep cool.
When the weather gets colder, it’s a good idea to layer your attire. A good accent to your clothing is a sweater, windbreaker, fleece vest, jacket, or quarter-zip.
Top It Off With A Hat
A hat can help keep the sun out of your eyes while you’re out and about. Baseball caps, visors, and straw hats are all acceptable styles. If you prefer to wear a hat while playing golf, be sure you do so correctly. Maintain a forward-facing brim. Please do not wear your cap backward.
