The Best Places to Visit on an Andaman Cruise
We learnt on our Andaman voyage that the island is a delight for both traditional tourists and travellers for Andaman Cruise. In Andaman, there is a long list of places to see, but they are all well worth your time. We’ll begin with the more standard locales before moving on to the more unexpected.
Andaman is a natural wonder. Tourists and travellers alike will enjoy this archipelago’s many attractions. We had always preferred to go to the mountains. So the sea and beaches in Andaman were quite fresh and gorgeous for us.
There are 325 islands in the Andaman group, but just 24 in the Nicobar group. The Great Andaman is made up of the north, middle, and south Andaman islands. In the south, the Ten Degree Channel separates Landfall Island, Interview Island, the Sentinel Islands, Ritchie’s Archipelago, Rutland Island, and Little Andaman from the Nicobar group of islands.

The vacation to the Andaman Islands was no exception. I discovered several intriguing facts when researching the history of the location.
1. Port Blair with Andaman cruise
Port Blair is the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is also the largest settlement on the island and the main access point for all of the other islands. So, most likely, your journey will begin here. The town’s attractions include the Cellular Jail, the Samudrika Marine Museum, and a water sports complex, among others. You can also go to Corbyn’s Cove Beach if you want to go to the beach. You can also participate in watersports here.
2. Tapu Chidiya
Chidiya tapu, also known as Andaman’s Bird Island, is a rich carpet of mangrove forests that hosts many species of birds. The eco-park is located at 28km from Port Blair, which is the capital of the archipelago. Regular bus services run from Port Blair to Chidiya Tapu. This place is a paradise for birdwatchers. It also has beautiful sunsets and trekking trails.
A must-visit is the biological park at Chidiya tapu with its diverse flora & fauna. The Sunset Point is one of the most popular attractions in Chidiya tapu. The Sunset Point offers spectacular views of the setting sun, as it dips into the Bay of Bengal. A mini zoo is also available at Chidiya tapu, and it’s well worth a visit.
3. Chatham Sawmill with Andaman cruise
The Chatham Saw Mill is Asia’s oldest and largest sawmill. However, this isn’t the only incentive to pay a visit to the sawmill. The mill’s history dates back to the time whenIn 1789, Lt. Archibald Blair arrived in Port Blair to establish a British settlement, primarily as a deportation centre for prisoners. Previously, the sawmill was used to meet the needs of the west.
Except on Mondays and Thursdays, mill hours are 8 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.
4. North Bay Island
Day trips to North Bay Island and Ross Island are available. Water activities are popular on North Bay Island. Scuba diving, snorkelling, jet skiing, sea walks, and speed boat rides are all available here. A one-hour ferry ride from Port Blair Jetty takes you to the island.

5. The island of Ross (Netaji Subhash Chandra Dweep)
Another spot that will take your breath away is Ross Island. Until 1941, this island served as the capital of Andaman. For nearly 80 years, Ross Island served as the headquarters of the Indian Penal Settlement.
Markets, bakeries, stores, workshops, a water distillation plant, a chapel, a tennis court, a printing press, a secretariat, a hospital, a cemetery, and an open-air theatre were among the amenities on the island. Except for certain old crumbling structures that once held some of these landmarks, everything has vanished now.
North Bay Island and Ross Island tours are usually combined in one day.
6. Havelock Island with Andaman Cruise
Havelock Island is the most popular island in the Andamans for Andaman cruise, with the highest tourist traffic. it has some of the best diving spots in South Asia, as well as lovely and unspoiled beaches.
Radhanagar Beach is regarded as one of Asia’s most beautiful beaches. You can tour the island by renting a motorcycle or scooty, as we did. We recommend staying on Havelock Island for at least two nights.

7. The Island of Neil (Shaheed Dweep)
This lovely island is a backpacker’s dream. The brilliant blue seas and golden sand beaches are a visual delight. Neil Island has a natural bridge in addition to its beautiful beaches. Neil Island, also known as Shaheed Dweep, is a small island that may be explored in a day on a two-wheeler. You may rent a motorcycle or scooty here, just as you do in Havelock, and explore the island.
A day excursion to Neil Island or Shaheed Dweep is possible, but staying overnight is strongly advised. Our favourite site on the entire Andaman tour was Neil Island.
8. The island of Baratang
Between the South and Middle Islands is Baratang Island. Beautiful beaches, mangrove rivers, limestone caves, and mud volcanoes can all be found here. Baratang Island is around 100 kilometres from Port Blair and takes nearly 5 hours to get due to poor road conditions. We are not trying to discourage you, but this is a destination to visit only if you enjoy exploring the unknown and are not intimidated by long hours and difficult travel conditions.
Please keep in mind that visiting the limestone caves will require a permission.
9. Diglipur and the Andaman Islands
Perhaps the best-kept secret of the Andaman cruise tour is this. North Andaman is a part of the island that has yet to be explored. By road, it takes around 12 hours to get from Port Blair to Diglipur. However, once you arrive, you will be mesmerised by the natural beauty of the area.
Ross and Smith Island are two places to visit in Diglipur.
The islands of Ross and Smith are actually two islands connected together by a sand bar to form a single group of islands.
